Description

This presentation will review research from my lab as well as other relevant work on childhood sexual abuse prevention. This will include parent, child  and school based prevention programming, as well as community wide training. There will be a discussion about what research has shown as well as gaps in the literature which provide a basis for future work. 

Bio
Dr. Maureen C. Kenny, Ph.D., is a Professor of Psychology and Associate Chair of Academic Personnel in the Department of Psychology at Florida International University (FIU). She leads the MAST lab (Maltreatment, Abuse and Sexual Trauma). Dr. Kenny has published extensively in the area of child maltreatment, with a specific focus on child sexual abuse, human trafficking, prevention education and treatment with diverse populations. Her work also addresses the issue of mandatory child maltreatment reporting laws among professionals. Dr. Kenny has published over 100 peer reviewed articles, has made over 100 professional presentations at national, international, and regional conferences and authored over 18 book chapters and three books. She is a fellow of Division 37 of the American Psychological Association and was the inaugural recipient of the Citizen Psychologist Award from Division 37 in 2019 as well as the recipient of the 2025 Award for Outstanding Teaching, Training, and Mentoring in the Field of Child Maltreatment from the American Psychological Association.
