Focus and Objectives
In this talk, Dr. Drouin will dive into the complexities of digital abuse, including the ways in which perpetrators are using novel, technology-facilitated methods to find, track, control, and abuse their victims. From tracking via commonly used apps to AI-engineered images, the spectrum of mechanisms for digital abuse is ever expanding. We will discuss emerging threats within the wider landscape of intimate partner and sexual violence.


Bio
Dr. Drouin, author of the MIT Press book “Out of Touch: How to Survive an Intimacy Famine,” Professor of psychology, and Senior Research Scientist for Parkview Health, has been conducting relationship, technology, and sexuality research for more than a decade. Dr. Drouin has authored or co-authored more than 100 peer-reviewed articles or book chapters and has more than 155 presentations at national and international conferences. Her work has been cited by mainstream media including the New York Times, CNN, NPR, MSNBC Chronicle of Higher Education, and CBS News.
