My work focuses on the developmental mechanisms of risk, resilience and psychopathology in the context of childhood traumas. I am mainly interested in the impacts of trauma on parenthood and in the development and evaluation of clinical interventions that may contribute to mitigating the intergenerational trajectories of childhood trauma.
STEP: The STEP (Supporting the Transition to and Engagement in Parenthood) program is a mentalization-based group intervention for expecting parents who have experienced childhood trauma. Trauma resolution: This work aims to better understand how people who have experienced trauma manage to resolve these events. This work revolves around our concept of "trauma-specific mentalization". Trauma and parenting: This work focuses on the experience of parenthood in survivors of trauma on the early intergenerational impacts of trauma. Parents under the influence: This project aims to provide an initial portrait of cannabis use among parents of a child under the age of 12 in Quebec, and the response of service organizations to this phenomenon. Youth at genetic risk of major psychiatric disorders: This work aims to better understand the developmental roots of schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and recurrent depressive disorders, with a particular attention to the role of trauma in the risk trajectory.
