The aim of our research is to identify protective factors on individual, familial, social and community levels that contribute to reducing the impacts of victimization, and to promote the implementation of evidence-based interventions in order to support the optimal development of children and youth and develop programs to prevent violence.

Research

• Canada Research Chair in Interpersonal Traumas and Resilience: The program aims to promote the adaptation and recovery of young victims of interpersonal violence by 1) identifying adaptation trajectories and protective factors that promote the well-being of youth, and 2) evaluating intervention and prevention practices that mobilize young people, their peers and the adults around them.
• Youths’ Romantic Relationships (YRR): Conducted in Quebec, the YRR survey documented the prevalence of violence in intimate and romantic relationships, as well as the risk and resilience factors associated with it, among nearly 8200 teenagers. The YRR survey has been repeated in France, Italy, Brazil and Haiti.
• SPARX Project : For positive romantic and intimate relationships: Following on from the YRR survey, the SPARX project aims to develop best practices to promote positive romantic and intimate relationships and prevent dating violence.
• Developmental Pathways in Youth: This project aims to validate conceptual models explaining the link between sexual victimization and impact on youth development, and to identify markers associated with resilient trajectories relying on longitudinal studies.
• Marie-Vincent Interuniversity Research Chair in Child Sexual Abuse: The Chair aims to develop expertise in the detection and treatment of sexual violence against youth. Its work focuses on three areas: 1 - Identifying developmental profiles and trajectories; 2 - Assessing services offered and psycho-socio-judicial service trajectories; 3 - Evaluating prevention initiatives.
